Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient healing method which originated in China thousands of years ago. The body's natural healing response was found to be activated by inserting fine needles into specific points along the body's energy pathway. The Chinese called this energy "Qi" (pronounced "Chee") or life force.
Over the millennia, acupuncture has developed into a highly comprehensive system of medicine which is still practiced today, not only in the West where it is now firmly established.
Acupuncture can benefit the mind, body and spirit. It is helpful for the effects of stress, including depression and anxiety as well as fatigue and physical disease.
A diagnosis is made at the initial consultation when the patient is asked about his or her main complaint and full health history. The treatment is entirely suited to the individuals needs, with the person's age, symptoms, general constitution, emotional well being and life circumstances taken into consideration. Pulse and tongue diagnosis is also used to confirm the main treatment principles. Subsequent treatments are based on this initial diagnosis.
A typical course of acupuncture might involve 4-6 weekly treatments initially, followed by fortnightly intervals, then perhaps on a monthly basis. Long-standing chronic conditions will obviously take longer to improve. Less serious conditions may respond very quickly to acupuncture. Acupuncture is a safe treatment for all.
