Psychotherapy for Children and Individuals Using Art and Play Materials
Imagination is not the talent of some… but the health of all
Psychotherapy can support an individual in working toward one's own solutions to challenges we face in life. It is an opportunity to explore the inner world and relationships in a safe and confidential space.
The use of creative expression images, metaphors and stories can provide an additional way to explore one's thoughts and emotions.
For Children…
Being a parent isn't easy. Even when you've done your best, children can face challenges and difficulties that they see in themselves, their schoolwork, and inrelationships with their families and their friends.
Tension in children can manifest in a variety of ways, but usually through changes in behaviour such as increased moodiness, tearfulness, daydreaming, withdrawal, restlessness, and difficulties in school. Bereavement, family separation, sibling birth, changes in stepfamilies, moving house, changing schools, academic pressures and even growing up are just some of the many challenges children face. Art and Play Psychotherapy can assist your child in making sense of his/her emotional experiences and build a language that allows those feelings to be expressed in a different way.
By working together, we can then find a way that you can support your child in being able to cope with whatever life throws at them.
For Adults…
Psychotherapy is inherently a creative exploration of one's inner world and the relationships in one's life.
You would be supported in using whatever way you felt would best suit your needs, whether it be talking or using any of the other creative material available in the room.
