Hypno-assisted Birthing

Hypno-assisted Birthing is a safe, gentle approach that helps you remain in control throughout the birth experience. Whether you chose to have your baby at home or in hospital you can use the breathing exercises, relaxation techniques and guided imagery. You will learn in class, and practice at home, to help you remain calm and relaxed and look forward to meeting your baby.

Childbirth is a natural, normal event in a woman's life. Your body is designed to work in harmony with nature throughout the birthing process. The reason women feel pain in labour is because they feel anxious and tense. Anxiety triggers the 'flight or fright' response that occurs naturally in our body when we experience challenging situations. We become flooded with adrenaline and our heart rate rises, blood and oxygen are diverted away from non-essential organs, which unfortunately includes the uterus. The result is that the muscles in the uterus are prevented from working properly. Yet if you go with the experience instead of fighting it, you and baby can work together, feeling comfortable and completely in control. Then giving birth becomes the wonderful experience that nature intended it to be.

The series of four weekly classes is presented by Jane Crowe, clinical hypnotherapist, at The Vale Practice. The sessions are designed to teach you techniques to practice before, during and after the birth. Each session will combine discussion and practice of the techniques.

Session Two:
