Yoga
This path to achieving and maintaining a state of inner peace and happiness is thought to be 5,000 years old. Originating in the East, yoga has now become a successful form of therapy and exercise in the West.
Yoga has been medically and scientifically proven on both a physical and mental level. The three main elements of Hatha yoga are: asana (postures), pranayama (breathing) and relaxation. The incorporation of these has proven to be extremely therapeutic to almost all physical and mental ailments of the modern world. By encouraging relaxation to flow through the body and mind yoga benefits stress related illness, backache, neck pain, arthritis, rheumatism, high blood pressure, fatigue, insomnia, digestive disorders, anxiety and depression.
Thousands of years on yoga still has a profound effect on the body. As muscles are worked and toned up through postures the spine returns to natural alignment and the inner organs are revitalised. Flexibility is increased and both deep and superficial tensions are released. Controlled breathing is used to bring together the body and the mind. Each different posture redirects the flow within the blood and lymph vessels awakening the circulation of the body. After a class the internal organs feel like they have had a healthy massage and the body's natural energy is flowing around the body more freely.
Classes are taught in small groups of three, which allows for a concentrated and invigorating practice. However, one to one classes can be arranged on request.
